A new source of information

Obviously, this blog never went anywhere. As it turns out writing updates for a book is hard without giving spoilers, and there's not much else I can do to provide regular updates. And then seeing no views every day was rather demoralizing, as you might imagine, and so I ended up simply...not. However, obviously I need to provide information somewhere, and so I'm retiring this blog, and starting a facebook page.

You can find that page here: https://www.facebook.com/MechanicalInstinctBook/

It's a pretty basic page, but I'll be posting regular updates on the state of the next book, details of releases and a vague overview of plans, as well as sometimes things I like that I want to share. This blog will stay up just to make sure anyone who fights it knows where to go for the time being.

A Release and a Free Book

So! This week has been a bit big, hence the delayed posting. Because, first of all, Book 2 is out. It came out just as I was going to bed yesterday, and it can be found here:

https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01M0PZ2WP

I'm rather pleased with it, I think it's overall a better book than book 1, though, a bit shorter than book 1. Being about Kitty Hawk it's one I had an easier time writing, since she's a character I understand better.

As for the next piece of news, Swamp Town Tournament is now free for the next 4-ish days. It can be picked up here:

https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01LQ5W5G4

This is the only chance this year that you'll be able to pick it up for free, since Amazon has a limit on how long you can give out a book for free, but I suspect I'll be making it free again early next year.

That's all the news for this week, updates on book 3 coming next week I suppose.

A slightly delayed update.

There's not a lot to be said this week. Obviously, the next book is coming out in a little over a week, so that'll be a bit more of a big deal, and I'll probably throw up an extract or something from that. In the meantime however, I've just finished writing the third book. Which puts me a whole day ahead of schedule. I suspect I will waste this day I've been given.

So, with nothing else particularly interesting to post, I'll settle for posting a nice simple preview of the second book's cover.

This is...possibly the final version. There's a colour-shifted version that's a fair bit bluer, that I may end up using instead. But as the cover might suggest, book two is written from the perspective of Kitty Hawk. Expect perspective shifts to be a fairly common thing through out the series.

The Beginning

Hello everyone,

This is, obviously, my first post on anything as the author of Mechanical Instinct. It's a surprisingly difficult post to write, as it feels like there's both an awful lot to say, but at the same time, very little to say. So I'll start with a simple update on the state of affairs. At the time of writing this, the first book, The Swamp Town Tournament, has been up for a short while, though it hasn't been remotely successful, which I will admit is solely down to my own lack of marketing for it. This is something I intend to remedy in the near future, once I have the few things keeping me from it sorted out. In the mean time, if you've somehow stumbled across this blog by accident and are curious to read the first book, it can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LQ5W5G4

On to news about the future, starting with this blog in general, I intend to keep semi-active on it, with an update posted roughly once a week. These will usually be either updates on how the next book is coming, expected release dates, leaks of cover art, or a leak of the blurb for the next book. I suspect it'll usually be one of each of those a per release, with perhaps a personal update, or a plug of something else I'm up to mixed in for those times when I need to make 5 posts during a book's development.

Finally, in the spirit of the last point, some news on the next book. Provided all goes to plan with Amazon, it shall be released on the 7th of October. The book itself is all finished, and the art is also almost done. It's mostly just a case of looking to establish a monthly schedule, and giving me time to build a back log so that should disaster strike, I can still release on time. The only problem is you'll be receiving status updates on a book ahead of the book that's being released more often than not. Sorry about that all.

Anyway, that's enough for the first post. More to come, I'm sure.
